چکیده
The study of fatigue is critical to good usability and durability asphalt pavements. Inaccurate calculation the failure criteria can cause incorrect evaluation performance, leading inaccurate prediction pavement performance poor maintenance planning. This paper develops a stiffness change tendency method (SCTM) that be used model evolution in concrete determine laboratory points characterise different damage stages. A logistic was selected represent relationship between log (E) number cycles (N) obtained from two-point bending (2PB) tests. measured reduction versus loading curves were determined for range mixtures unaged, aged moisture damaged conditions by testing at various temperatures strains. By analysing derivatives model, it possible identify three transition associated with progression. There agreement data proposed, confirming approximation curves. first two SCTM (NP1 NP2) compared value N1 Nfm energy ratio (ER) dissipated (RDEC) method, respectively. are no statistically-significant differences energy-based methods, proving P1 viewed as micro-crack initiation propagation, P2 defined macro-crack generation point (the true point). Three subjected four-point (4PB) tests demonstrate applicability bitumen types, mixture grades test methods. provides development, obtain stages, which could useful simulation deterioration.

Effect of Failure Criteria on Stress and Strain Analysis of Asphalt Pavement in Tropical Areas
A review of pavement thickness designs shows that two kinds of failure criteria are used in most cases. They are: 1) The tension strain under the asphalt layer that causes cracking and 2) the vertical compression strain on the sub-grade that causes deflection. In this study, various factors affecting thickness design are first defined and more than 216 pavement conditions are introduced. Struc...

متن کاملAdaptive neuro-fuzzy inference approach for prediction the stiffness modulus on asphalt concrete
In this study, stiffness modulus parameters of asphalt concrete were determined experimentally for different temperature and exposure times. The stiffness modules were calculated according to Nijboer stiffness module. Basic physical properties and the quantity of bitumen of asphalt core samples were designated for determining the stiffness modules. The samples were exposed to 17 C (reference te...
متن کاملTensile Strength of Asphalt Concrete due to Moisture Conditioning
This study investigates the effect of moisture conditioning on the Indirect Tensile Strength (ITS) of asphalt concrete. As a first step, cylindrical samples of 100 mm diameter and 50 mm thick were prepared using a Superpave gyratory compactor. Next, the samples were conditioned using Moisture Induced Susceptibility Test (MIST) device at different numbers of moisture conditioning cycles. In the ...
